Monday Inspiration

I think I bought Mos Def's debut album Black on Both Sides in 1999 and I thought it was amazing from the first listen. 10 years on and its still my favorite album of all time, it just never gets old. He has released a few albums since then which are all excellent but Black on Both sides remains his best work. If you haven't heard it I cant recommend it enough!
He is also one of only a handful of rappers that has gained critical acclaim as a actor with nominations for Grammys, Golden Globe and Emmy awards. Mos Def also has strong political and social views and has been particularly vocal about the Bush Administration's handling of the Hurricane Katrina disaster in New Orleans.
Mos Defs new album titled "The Ecstatic" is due out in June and judging from his latest offering "Life In Marvelous Times" it will be another classic.

Mos Def's latest track "Life In Marvelous Times"

On the night of the MTV Music awards Mos Def pulled up in front of Radio City Music Hall on a flatbed truck and began performing the "Katrina Clap" single in front of a crowd that quickly gathered around him. He was subsequently arrested despite having a public performance permit in his possession.
